Fewer viewers tuned into last week’s NFL singleheader on CBS.
The Week 2 NFL singleheader window drew 16.7 million viewers on CBS last Sunday afternoon, down 14% from coverage featuring Seahawks/Chargers last year (19.4M) and down 24% from coverage featuring Washington/Packers in 2013 (21.9M), both of which aired on FOX. The rating was not immediately available.
The telecast was just the fourth of the season thus far to have a decline in viewership (14 telecasts), joining the Week 1 national window on CBS (-17%) and a pair of Monday Night Football games on ESPN.
Compared to last year’s first singleheader on CBS, which took place in Week 1, viewership increased 1% from 16.5 million. Overall, the telecast ranks as the most-watched singleheader debut on CBS since the network resumed airing NFL games in 1998.
It also topped Sunday’s early doubleheader window on FOX, which drew 15.3 million.
