A rout involving a pair of 0-2 teams did not quite deliver for CBS on Sunday.
The Week 3 NFL national window, featuring Bears/Seahawks in 76% of markets, drew a 14.1 overnight rating on CBS Sunday afternoon — down 17% from coverage featuring Broncos/Seahawks last year (16.9) and down 3% from coverage featuring Colts/49ers in 2013 (14.6).
The 14.1 is the lowest for the Week 3 national window since 2009, when coverage featuring Steelers/Bengals drew a 12.6 on CBS. Even so, it was also the highest NFL overnight of the day — edging NBC’s Sunday Night Football (13.8).
The first half of Sunday’s doubleheader drew an 11.0 overnight, down a tick from last year (11.1) but up 42% from 2013 (7.7). Of the six NFL telecasts to have a decline in overnights this year, four have aired on CBS.
