Former NBA referee Tim Donaghy is set to make his first television appearance since admitting to betting on games he officiated over two years ago.
Donaghy, recently released from federal custody after serving a 15-month sentence, will appear on 60 Minutes December 6.
The 60 Minutes appearance will precede the release of a book written by Donaghy, which he claims will “answer many of the questions about his gambling, the NBA games that were affected and the involvement with the New York Mafia.”
This is not the first time that 60 Minutes has gotten the first interview with a scandal-ridden figure from the sports world. Soon after being named in the Mitchell Report, Roger Clemens sat down for a 60 Minutes interview with Mike Wallace. And this past August, fresh from serving a prison sentence for his role in a dogfighting ring, Michael Vick was interviewed by James Brown for the program.
