College football topped the NFL on Thanksgiving night.
Thursday’s Texas/Texas A&M game drew a 3.7/8 U.S. rating and 6.7 million viewers on ESPN, up 23% and 20%, respectively, from last year’s Thanksgiving night game between the same two teams (3.0, 5.6 mil).
Texas/Texas A&M finished comfortably ahead of Giants/Broncos on NFL Network (3.0/6, 6.1 mil) — though the NFL game won the head-to-head battle among adults 18-49 (2.4 for Giants/Broncos to 2.2 for Texas/Texas A&M).
It should be pointed out that ESPN is in about 40 million more homes than NFL Network.
Texas/Texas A&M stands as easily the highest rated, most-viewed Thursday night college football game of the season on ESPN, topping the previous high set by Mississippi/South Carolina in September (3.1, 4.7 mil).
Additionally, the game ranks as the third most-viewed college football game of the season on cable, behind only Miami/Florida State (8.4 mil) and USC/Ohio State (10.6 mil) on ESPN in September.
