Just shy of ten million viewers watched early morning NFL action on CBS.
The Week 4 Jets/Dolphins NFL International Series game earned 9.9 million viewers on CBS last Sunday morning, up 16% from Lions/Falcons in the same timeslot last year, which took place in Week 8 and aired on FOX (8.5M). The rating was not immediately available.
The Jets’ win ranks as the least-watched NFL telecast on any network this year, though that is no surprise given the 9:30 AM ET timeslot.
To put the numbers in perspective, the game had more viewers than every NBA playoff game since 2013 (excluding the NBA Finals) and every Major League Baseball playoff game since 2010 (excluding the World Series). Only one college football game has had a larger audience this season, Ohio State/Virginia Tech on Labor Day (10.6M).
Boosted by the unusual lead-in, the Week 4 NFL singleheader window had 15.8 million viewers immediately afterward — up 34% from last year (11.8M) and up 19% from 2013 (13.3M). Again, the rating was not immediately available. Despite the big increase, the telecast ranks as the least-watched singleheader of the season.
