The National League Division Series delivered another night of big increases for TBS.
Game 2 of the Cubs/Cardinals NLDS drew a 2.8 rating and 4.6 million viewers on TBS Saturday night, according to Nielsen fast-nationals — up 47% in ratings and 46% in viewership from Giants/Nationals on Fox Sports 1 last year (1.9, 3.2M) and up 47% and 53%, respectively, from Rays/Red Sox on TBS in 2013 (1.9, 3.0M).
The Cubs’ series-tying win ranks as the highest rated and most-watched Division Series game on a weekend since 2010.
Locally, Game 2 scored a 23.0 rating in St. Louis — the market’s highest for Game 2 of a Division Series since Cardinals/Dodgers in 2004 (34.7). That came on the heels of the highest rated Game 1 in the market since at least 1998. The game also had a 14.9 in Chicago.
Game 2 of Mets/Dodgers drew a 2.6 and 4.2 million later Saturday night, up 160% in ratings and 139% in viewership from Cardinals/Dodgers on MLB Network last year (1.0, 1.8M) and up 24% and 27%, respectively, from Tigers/Athletics on TBS in 2013 (2.1, 3.3M). The Dodgers’ series-tying win had a 10.5 rating in New York and a 6.3 in Los Angeles.
Through Saturday, TBS has averaged a 3.3 and 5.4 million viewers for the MLB Postseason — up 32% in ratings and 39% in viewership from the comparable point last year (2.5, 3.9M). Saturday’s doubleheader in particular averaged a 2.7 and 4.4 million viewers, ranking as the network’s most-watched second day of Division Series coverage since 2007.
