The abbreviated National League Championship Series ended with another strong number on TBS.
Game 4 of the Mets/Cubs NLCS drew a 5.0 final rating and 7.9 million viewers on TBS Wednesday night, up 85% in ratings and 99% in viewership from Orioles/Royals on a Wednesday afternoon last year (2.7, 4.0M) and up 35% and 37%, respectively, from Cardinals/Dodgers on a Tuesday night in 2013 (3.7, 5.8M).
Compared to Game 4 of Cardinals/Giants on Fox Sports 1 last year, which aired in the same Wednesday night timeslot, ratings and viewership increased by 61% and 56%, respectively, from a 3.1 and 5.1 million.
The Mets’ series-clinching win, which peaked with 8.6 million viewers from 10:30-10:45 PM ET, ranks as the third-most watched baseball game on cable since 2011 — trailing only this year’s Cubs/Pirates Wild Card Game (8.3M) and Mets/Cubs Game 3 the previous night (9.2M). The six largest audiences since 2011 have taken place this postseason alone, with five of those six involving the Cubs and/or Mets.
It also ranks as the top LCS Game 4 on TBS since Rangers/Yankees in 2010 (6.3, 9.8M), and the top NLCS Game 4 on any network since Phillies/Giants on FOX that same year (5.7, 9.3M).
For the night, Game 4 trailed only Empire on FOX (4.8) and Modern Family on ABC (2.7) as television’s top program among adults 18-49.
