ESPN’s SEC Network has signed NBA free agent Glen ‘Big Baby’ Davis. In other news, ESPN is also parting ways with college basketball analyst Shane Battier, and former L.A. Times writer T.J. Simers has won a suit against the paper.
Big Baby Hired
- Former LSU F Glen “Big Baby” Davis has joined ESPN’s SEC Network as a studio analyst, it was announced Thursday. Davis, an NBA free agent who most recently played with the Clippers, is currently rehabbing an ankle injury. He is one of two recent NBA players joining the ESPN family of networks; former Wizards F Antawn Jamison has been hired as an analyst for ESPNU. (ESPN Media Zone)
Battier Leaving
- ESPN has parted ways with college basketball analyst Shane Battier after one season, The Big Lead reported Wednesday. Battier joined ESPN immediately after his NBA career ended, having previously served as a guest analyst on the network’s NBA Draft coverage. (The Big Lead via Awful Announcing)
Simers Suit Successful
- Former Los Angeles Times writer T.J. Simers has been awarded $7.1 million in an age discrimination lawsuit against the paper. Simers’ tenure with the Times ended in 2013 and he filed suit soon after, alleging that he was forced out due to age and medical issues. The paper claims he was fired for an ethics violation and will appeal. (Los Angeles Times)
