Though it will likely be supplanted by Saturday’s matchup against Boston College on NBCSN, Notre Dame generated its smallest audience of the season last weekend.
Last Saturday’s Wake Forest/Notre Dame college football game had a 1.3 final rating and 1.9 million viewers on NBC, down 28% in ratings and 34% in viewership from NBC’s sixth Notre Dame telecast last season, against Northwestern (1.8, 3.0M) and down 24% in both measures from its sixth telecast in 2013, against Navy (1.7, 2.6M).
Notre Dame’s blowout win was the team’s least-watched game of the season on any network (10 total), falling below the previous mark set by their matchup with Massachusetts in week four (2.0M). It is also tied as their lowest rated of the season, matching the Massachusetts game.
Head-to-head, the game was no match for Alabama/Mississippi State on FOX (3.4, 5.4M) or regional action on ABC (3.3, 5.2M). It was the weekend’s lowest rated and least-watched college football game on broadcast, the third time this season that NBC’s Notre Dame coverage has brought up the rear.
