For the second time this season, college football on FOX topped Saturday Night Football on ABC.
Saturday’s Baylor/Oklahoma State college football game earned a 2.6 final rating and 4.3 million viewers on FOX, up 136% in ratings and 111% in viewership from Texas/Oklahoma State last year (1.1, 2.0M) and up 44% and 40%, respectively, from Texas Tech/Baylor in 2013 (1.8, 3.1M).
The Bears’ blowout win ranks as the highest rated and most-watched game of the season on FOX (15 telecasts), topping the previous highs of 2.1 and 3.3 million for Utah/USC in week eight.
The game outdrew TCU/Oklahoma on ABC head-to-head (2.4, 3.9M), marking the second time this season that FOX has topped ABC’s Saturday Night Football. The previous occurrence took place in week four, when Utah/Oregon (1.8, 3.0M) topped UCLA/Arizona (1.6, 2.4M). Overall, it was the top primetime college football telecast of the week.
UPDATE 12/1: The early UCLA/Utah game had a mere 0.6 and 845,000, down a tick in ratings and 18% in viewership from Washington/Arizona last year (0.7, 1.0M) and down 57% and 61%, respectively, from Oklahoma State/Texas in 2013 (1.4, 2.2M). The Bruins’ win ranks as the least-watched college football game on a broadcast network this season.
