Spanish-Language Super Bowl Broadcast Up
- Spanish-language coverage of Super Bowl 50 generated 472,000 viewers on ESPN Deportes, up 28% from last year on NBC Universo (368K) but down 16% from 2014 on Fox Deportes (561K). Excluding soccer, the game ranks as the most-watched program in the history of the network. Streaming coverage on WatchESPN chipped in 5,600 viewers per minute. (ESPN Media Zone)
Broncos, Panthers, Both Post Local Gains Over Last SB Appearances
- CBS coverage of Super Bowl 50 win earned a 53.9 rating in Denver, up 4% from the Broncos’ loss to the Seahawks two years ago (51.4) and up 3% from the team’s previous win over the Falcons in 1999 (51.6). In Charlotte, the Panthers’ loss had a 55.9 rating — up 13% from their previous Super Bowl appearance against the Patriots in 2004 (49.7). Nashville was the top market with a 57.7* rating, followed by Albuquerque (56.9), Norfolk (56.8), Greensboro (56.7) and Greenville (56.6). (via Sports Business Daily)
NFL Honors Sets Metered Market Mark
- The annual NFL Honors awards show earned a 3.3 overnight rating on CBS Saturday night, up 10% from last year on NBC (3.0), up 65% from 2014 on FOX (2.0), and the highest overnight in the history of the game (dates back to 2012). Head-to-head, the show comfortably topped ESPN’s much-hyped Thunder/Warriors NBA game (2.4). (via Sports Business Daily)
