It was a mostly down week for the EPL, but NBCSN still scored one of its top audiences of the season.
Last Sunday’s Manchester City/Tottenham English Premier League match drew 725,000 viewers on NBCSN, up 9% from Southampton/Liverpool last year (663K). There are no comparisons available to 2014, as week 26 of the season consisted of weekday matches.
The Spurs’ win ranks seventh for the season on cable, with each of the top eight taking place in the late Sunday morning window.
Earlier in the morning, Aston Villa/Liverpool scored 470,000 viewers — down 10% from Everton/Leicester City last year (523K). Rounding out the rare Sunday tripleheader, Arsenal/Leicester City had 406,000; there was no comparable window last year.
Shifting to Saturday, NBCSN scored 450,000 for Chelsea/Newcastle in the afternoon window — down 47% from Manchester City/Newcastle last year, which aired on the NBC broadcast network (844K). Everton/West Brom had 445,000 earlier in the day, off 11% from last year’s Chelsea/Burnley match (498K). Keep in mind it aired concurrently with Norwich City/West Ham on USA Network (166K), with the matches combining for 611,000 viewers in the mid-morning window.
Finally, Sunderland/Manchester United had 389,000 in the early morning window. There was no comparable match last year.
