The 2010 Winter Olympics continues to score for NBC.
NBC drew a 14.5/24 rating and 24.8 million viewers for coverage of the 2010 Vancouver Olympics Thursday night, up 19% in ratings and 28% in viewers from the comparable night in ’06 (Turin; 11.9/19, 19.4 mil), but down 18% and 12%, respectively, from the comparable night in ’02 (Salt Lake City; 17.6/29, 28.2 mil).
Versus the comparable night of the 1998 Nagano Olympics, Thursday’s coverage was down 25% from a 19.3/30.
Denver and Salt Lake City were the top local markets, with a 24.1/38 and 24.1/41, respectively. Following were Minneapolis (21.8/37), Milwaukee (20.7/32), Seattle (20.6/39) and St. Louis (20.6/33).
Through seven nights, NBC is averaging a 14.8/24 rating and 26.6 million viewers for coverage of the Winter Olympics, up 19% in ratings and 27% in viewers from 2006, but down 23% and 16%, respectively, from 2002 (19.1/31, 31.7 mil).
