SportsCenter is headed on the road from the Indy 500. In other news, ESPN will provide daylong coverage of Wrestlemania on Sunday, and NBC and the AVP Tour have extended their agreement.
SportsCenter to Originate From Indy 500
- Live editions of SportsCenter will originate from the site of the Indianapolis 500 in May, it was announced earlier this week. On May 28 and 29, Sara Walsh and Matt Barrie will host morning editions from the location. (IndyCar)
ESPN to Air Cut-ins From Wrestlemania
- ESPN plans to air “live cut-ins” from the WWE’s Wrestlemania all day on Sunday, SportsCenter anchor Jonathan Coachman said in an appearance on WWE Raw this week. Coachman is on location from Wrestlemania, hosting segments and conducting interviews with WWE figures. It should be noted that Sunday is one of the busiest days on ESPN’s calendar, with the network airing hours both MLB Opening Day and the Women’s Final Four. (Sports Business Daily)
NBC and AVP Extend Deal, Work Toward Long-Term Agreement
- NBC and the AVP Tour (beach volleyball) have agreed to a one-year extension of their year old television deal, with Sports Business Daily reporting that the sides are in talks for a longer-term contract. As was the case last year, the NBC networks will carry all eight events on the schedule. NBC is in its second stint airing AVP coverage, having previously aired coverage from 1990 through the tour’s collapse in 2010. The tour itself is in its second stint, having resurfaced in 2013.
