A Cinderella run led the way in the women’s Elite Eight.
Sunday’s Syracuse/Tennessee Women’s NCAA Tournament Elite Eight game scored 1.4 million viewers on ESPN, up 16% from Notre Dame/Baylor in primetime last year (1.2M) and up 4% from Connecticut/Texas A&M on a Monday night in 2014 (1.3M).
Syracuse’s win was the top game of the round, aided in no small part by a Sunday afternoon line-up bereft of competition.
Earlier in the day, Washington/Stanford had 1.0 million — up 11% from South Carolina/Florida State last year (930K) and down 19% from Baylor/Notre Dame on a Monday night in ’14 (1.3M).
Shifting to Monday, Connecticut/Texas delivered 1.3 million viewers on ESPN — down 5% from Connecticut/Dayton last year but up 39% from Maryland/Louisville on a Tuesday night in 2014 (967K). The Oregon State/Baylor nightcap also had 1.3 million, down 14% from Maryland/Tennessee last year (1.5M) but up 31% from North Carolina/Stanford in ’14 (1.0M).
