Overnight ratings for the PGA’s Heritage Classic could not match last year’s hot pace.
Final round coverage of the PGA Tour Heritage Classic had a 1.8 overnight rating on CBS Sunday afternoon, down 31% from last year, when coverage aired on tape delay (2.6), but up 13% from 2014 (1.6). The 1.8 is the second-lowest of the season for final round coverage, topping only Torrey Pines in January (1.7).
In addition, the 31 percent decline is the second-biggest of the season on a broadcast network — again edging only Torrey Pines, which had a 32 percent drop for its aforementioned final round. Keep in mind last year’s 2.6 set an unusually high bar, ranking as the tournament’s highest final round overnight since 2004.
Third round coverage on Saturday drew a 1.2 overnight, down 25% from last year’s 1.6 and off 14% from a 1.4 in ’14.
