Leicester City’s surprise run to the Premier League title scored record numbers for NBCSN. In other news, Premier Boxing Champions was less of a draw in its second outing on FOX, and rainout PGA Tour coverage did not make a dent on CBS.
Leicester Boosts NBCSN to EPL Record
- Sunday’s Manchester United/Leicester City English Premier League match had a 0.8 overnight rating on NBCSN, the network’s highest ever an EPL telecast. The previous high was a 0.7 for multiple matches, including Manchester City/Chelsea earlier in the season. The match ended in a draw that put Leicester in position to clinch the EPL title on Monday. The previous day, NBC had a 0.7 for Arsenal/Norwich City — tying its fifth-lowest overnight of the season.
Overnights Low For PBC on FOX
- Primetime coverage of the Premier Boxing Champions series had a 1.2 overnight rating on FOX Saturday night, down 25% from the network’s first PBC telecast in January (1.6). The 1.2 is the second-lowest for a primetime PBC window on a major broadcast network (eight telecasts), ahead of only coverage on NBC two weeks earlier (1.0).
Rainout PGA Not Much of a Draw For CBS
- Rain-shortened third round coverage of the PGA Tour New Orleans Classic delivered a 0.8 overnight rating on CBS Saturday afternoon, down 27% from last year (1.1) and down 38% from 2014 (1.3). Sunday’s coverage, which was a complete washout, also had a 0.8.
