ESPN Likely to Part Ways With Dilfer
- ESPN NFL analyst Trent Dilfer is “likely” leaving the network, according to both the New York Daily News and Sports Illustrated, with the former citing money as the issue. Dilfer has been with ESPN since 2008 and has spent the past five seasons as an on-site analyst for Monday Night Countdown. (NYDN, SI)
Fmr. ESPN Analyst Robert Smith Joins FOX
- Former ESPN college football analyst Robert Smith has joined Fox Sports in the same capacity, it was announced Monday. Smith will appear on the primary studio team for both FOX and Fox Sports 1, appearing alongside Dave Wannstedt, Matt Leinart and host Rob Stone. His new gig also includes regular appearances on Big Ten Network, which is run by Fox Sports. (Fox Sports)
NBC Adds Lipinski, Weir, to Summer Olympics
- NBC Sports figure skating analysts Tara Lipinski and Johnny Weir will contribute to its coverage of the Olympics this summer, covering “culture, sights, sounds and, of course, fashion,” according to the network. NBC has been unusually bullish on the duo for more than two years, including them in coverage of the Super Bowl, Kentucky Derby, National Dog Show and even the Academy Awards.
