Golf’s return to the Olympic Games will air exclusively on Golf Channel. In other news, the FOX broadcast network will air a primetime Copa América doubleheader, and the Stanley Cup Final will get a national radio broadcast for the first time in eight years.
Olympic Golf (August 11-14 and 17-20, Golf Channel)
- Golf Channel will televise the entire men’s and women’s Olympic golf competitions this summer, NBC Sports has announced, totaling 69 hours of coverage (130 including studio programming). Coverage of each round will air from 6:30 AM-3 PM ET, except for the final rounds, which will begin at 6 AM. Outside of Golf Channel, highlights and live cut-ins will air on NBC. Copa América (June 3-26, Fox, Fox Sports 1 and FX)
- The FOX broadcast network will televise four matches during the Copa América soccer tournament in June, including a primetime doubleheader of Chile/Bolivia and Argentina/Panama opposite the NBA Finals on Friday, June 10. Fox Sports 1 will air 21 matches, including the United States’ three in group play, while FX has two quarterfinals and the third-place match. (Fox Sports)
Stanley Cup Final (TBD, NBC Sports Radio)
- NBC Sports and the NHL have agreed to make NBC Sports Radio the exclusive national radio home for this year’s Stanley Cup Final, marking the first time in eight years the event has broadcast on a national radio outlet. As noted by Sports Business Daily, radio coverage has been limited to the participating teams in recent years. Kenny Albert will call the games alongside Joe Micheletti.
