CBS saw a small decline in ratings for the Big Ten Championship Game on Sunday.
Ohio St.’s win over Minnesota drew a 2.3 final rating and 3.5 million viewers on CBS Sunday, down 8% in ratings from last year’s Ohio St./Purdue game (2.5).
The 2.3 rating is likely the second-lowest* for the Big Ten Championship Game since at least ’99.
The Big Ten Championship Game was the second-most viewed college basketball game of the week, behind only the SEC title game on ABC (4.1 mil).
On Saturday, the Ohio St./Illinois semifinal drew a 1.6 final rating on CBS, up 7% from Ohio St./Michigan St. last year (1.5). Meanwhile, the Minnesota/Purdue semi drew a 1.5 rating, up 25% from last year’s Purdue/Illinois matchup (1.2).
* Final ratings for the 2008 Big Ten Championship Game were unavailable. However, the game drew a 1.5 overnight — making it very unlikely that the final rating was a 2.3 or higher.
