Ratings and viewership declined for the NCAA Tournament Selection Show on CBS.
The Selection Show drew a 4.1 final rating and 6.7 million viewers on CBS, down 7% and 6%, respectively, from last year (4.4, 7.1 mil).
Compared to the 2008 Selection Show, Sunday’s telecast was up 3% in ratings from a 4.0.
This marks the second-lowest rating ever for the Selection Show, ahead of only the aforementioned 2008 edition.
To put the numbers in perspective, the Selection Show drew a 5.9 rating as recently as 2000, and a 5.0 as recently as ’04.
December’s BCS Selection Show on FOX, which had the benefit of an NFL lead-in, drew a 5.8 rating and 9.3 million viewers.
