Having already clinched the title, the Premier League champions were understandably less of a draw last weekend.
Last Saturday’s Leicester City/Everton English Premier League match delivered 491,000 viewers on USA Network, down 10% from Liverpool/Crystal Palace on NBCSN last year (548K). Viewership also dropped 46% from Leicester’s match against Manchester United the previous week, which put the Foxes in position to clinch the title (908K).
Even with the lower numbers, it was the sixth-most watched Leicester City match this season (24 telecasts).
Earlier in the day, NBCSN’s Aston Villa/Newcastle match (298K) declined 17% from “Relegation Breakaway” coverage last year (358K) and 49% from Manchester United/Sunderland in 2014 (587K). USA Network posted 346,000 for concurrent coverage of Sunderland/Chelsea, bringing the combined total in the window to 644,000. Norwich City/Manchester United started the morning with 290,000 (+30%).
Shifting to Sunday, Manchester City/Arsenal posted 605,000 viewers on NBCSN — down 17% from Manchester United/Arsenal last year (726K) but up 34% from Chelsea/Norwich City in 2014 (452K). Tottenham/Southampton had 355,000 earlier in the morning, up 6% from Swansea/Manchester City last year (336K) and up 16% from Arsenal/West Brom in 2014 (305K).
Rounding out the week 37 slate, West Ham/Manchester United scored 287,000 Tuesday afternoon.
