Premier League viewership continues to grow in the United States.
Coverage of the English Premier League averaged 514,000 viewers on the NBC family of networks this season, up 7% from last year (479K), up 17% from the 2013-14 season (438K) and the highest average ever for the EPL on U.S. television. All three Premier League seasons on NBC Sports have set a viewership record.
The record numbers are especially impressive considering that this season’s schedule included a new match window on USA Network that competed with coverage on NBCSN.
Last week, EPL Championship Sunday delivered a combined 1.3 final rating and 1.9 million viewers across the NBC family of networks — up 15% in ratings and 5% in viewership from last year, and the largest U.S. TV audience ever for the final day of the season. The previous record was 1.8 million last year and in 2014.
Swansea/Manchester City was the top match of the day with 797,000 viewers on the NBC broadcast network, actually down 18% from Hull City/Manchester United last year (966K). NBCSN simulcast the match after its scheduled Bournemouth/Manchester United telecast was postponed, earning 240,000 for its coverage.
For the season, Manchester United/Liverpool in September was the top match on any network with 1.2 million on NBC. It was the sixth-most watched live Premier League match ever on U.S. television, and one of four matches this season to rank in the top ten.
