MLB on FOX put up solid numbers, at least by recent standards, last weekend. In other news, ESPN had a slight decline for Sunday Night Baseball and Turner Sports’ E-League had a big jump in viewership for its second week.
Solid Numbers For MLB on FOX
- Regional Major League Baseball action on FOX had a 1.6 final rating and 2.4 million viewers last Saturday night, flat in ratings and up a fraction of a percent in viewership from last year (2.471M to 2.466M), and up 14% and 13%, respectively, from the network’s third telecast in 2014 (1.4, 2.2M). The telecast had a higher rating but a smaller audience than competing coverage of the Stanley Cup Final on NBCSN (1.5, 2.8M), and was doubled by the NHL game in adults 18-49 (1.0 to 0.5). Earlier in the day, Fox Sports 1 had 317,000 for Rays/Twins (-33%). (via Programming Insider, ShowBuzz Daily)
Giants/Cardinals Slips on Sunday Night Baseball
- Giants/Cardinals delivered a 0.8 final rating and 1.4 million viewers on ESPN’s Sunday Night Baseball last weekend, down a tick in ratings and 4% in viewership from Cardinals/Dodgers last year (0.9, 1.4M). In other action, ESPN2 scored 557,000 for Cubs/Phillies on Monday Night Baseball and 346,000 for Mets/Pirates on Tuesday (-44%). (via Programming Insider [1], [2], [3])
E-League Higher in Week Two
- The second edition of Turner Sports’ E-League on TBS had a 0.3 final rating and 386,000 viewers last Friday night, up 51% in viewership from the debut telecast one week earlier (255K). Among adults 18-49, its 0.2 rating also marked an improvement over the previous week’s 0.1. Keep in mind the telecast ran nearly 90 minutes shorter than the inaugural edition, ending earlier in the morning (12:30 AM rather than 2:15 AM).
