ESPN’s Tom Jackson May Be Exiting
- ESPN NFL analyst Tom Jackson will “likely” leave the network’s Sunday NFL Countdown studio show, according to the New York Daily News, which would make him the fourth member of the cast to depart in the offseason. ESPN has already demoted Mike Ditka and parted ways with Keyshawn Johnson and Cris Carter. Jackson, who has been part of ESPN’s NFL studio team since 1987, is said to be “weighing his options.” (NYDN via Awful Announcing)
Rhoden, Araton, Leaving New York Times
- New York Times sports columnist William C. Rhoden penned his final column for the paper on Sunday, ending his 35-year run as a full-time columnist for the paper. Rhoden had been with the Times for 35 years and in his farewell piece hinted at new opportunities. Colleague Harvey Araton is also leaving the paper after the U.S. Open in September. Turner’s Anderson Making PGA Championship Debut
- Turner Sports announced last week that Brian Anderson will be part of its PGA Championship broadcast team, marking the first time he has worked the event. Anderson is the lead voice of the Milwaukee Brewers but has become better known in recent years for his work with Turner, where he has called Major League Baseball, NCAA Tournament and NBA playoff games.
