After big gains at the British Open, PGA Tour ratings returned to a downward trend over the weekend.
Final round coverage of the PGA Tour Canadian Open earned a 1.7 overnight rating on CBS Sunday afternoon, down 19% from last year (2.1), down a tick from 2014 (1.8) and the tournament’s lowest final round overnight since it aired opposite the Olympics in 2012 (0.8).
It was the third of the past four final round telecasts to decline in the metered markets, not including the canceled Greenbrier Classic. Overall, nine of the past 14 PGA Tour windows on broadcast television have declined.
That includes Saturday’s third round, which drew a 1.2 overnight — down a tick from last year (1.3) but up a tick from 2014 (1.1).
