The latest edition of UFC on FOX hit a record-low for mixed martial arts on primetime network television.
UFC on FOX 21 earned a 1.2 final rating and nearly 2.0 million viewers on Saturday night, marking the lowest rated and least-watched mixed martial arts event ever on primetime broadcast television (26 telecasts dating back to 2008). The previous lows were a 1.4 and 2.5 million.
Compared to the previous edition of UFC on FOX in July, ratings and viewership both dropped a third from a 1.8 and 3.0 million. That telecast was headlined by Holly Holm.
Saturday’s telecast still outpaced the most recent primetime edition of Premier Boxing Champions, which pulled a 1.1 and 1.8 million on FOX in July.
For the night, UFC on FOX was crushed by a weak-performing NFL preseason game on CBS (2.4, 3.8M). It also lost the head-to-head battle in adults 18-49, though by a much smaller margin (1.0 to 0.8). The events tied in adults 18-34, each earning a 0.7.
