Depending on where you stand, it was one of the greatest collapses or one of the greatest comebacks in sports history. Either way, it captivated audiences in Boston and Philadelphia.
Friday’s Flyers/Bruins Game 7, won by Philadelphia to cap their comeback from a 3-0 deficit in both the game and the series, drew an 11.6 rating and 592,000 viewers on Comcast SportsNet Philadelphia — the highest rating ever for a Flyers game on the network.
The 11.6 topped the previous record of 10.1 set two nights earlier by Game 6 of the series.
In Boston, Game 7 drew a 13.2 rating and 509,000 viewers on NESN, the second highest rating ever for a Bruins telecast on the network, behind only last year’s Hurricanes/Bruins Game 7 (14.2).
Games 6 and 7 of the series account for two of the four largest ratings ever for the Bruins on NESN.
Nationally, Versus drew a 0.6 U.S. rating and 930,000 viewers for the game. Adding in the local numbers, Game 7 drew approximately a 1.2 U.S. rating and 2.0 million viewers.
