Missing out on the biggest games, CBS scored weak numbers on college football’s opening weekend.
Saturday’s UCLA/Texas A&M college football game scored a 2.0 overnight rating on CBS, down 23% from Louisville/Auburn last year (2.6) and the lowest overnight for the network’s first SEC window of the season since at least 2007.
Prior to last year, the SEC on CBS debuted in week three of the season due to the U.S. Open. The network’s last week three opener, Georgia/South Carolina in 2014, posted a 4.2 overnight.
The Aggies’ win was trounced head-to-head by LSU/Wisconsin on ABC, which earned a 4.9 overnight. For the weekend, the SEC on CBS ranked behind all four games on ABC — none of which dipped below the 4.0 mark — and a pair on ESPN.
