The NFL’s first early morning window of the season was less of a draw, but still gave a boost to the singleheader that followed.
The Week 4 Colts/Jaguars NFL International Series game from London scored a 5.5 overnight rating on CBS Sunday morning, down 24% from Jets/Dolphins last year (7.2) and the lowest overnight yet for one of the early morning London games (four telecasts*).
The Jaguars’ win scored the lowest overnight of the season on broadcast (20 telecasts) and even trailed last week’s Monday Night Football game opposite the first presidential debate (5.7).
Even with the lower numbers, the London game provided a solid lead-in for the Week 4 singleheader window, which posted a 10.6 overnight — up 2% from last year (10.4) and up 29% from 2014 (8.2). The 10.6 is the highest for the Week 4 singleheader since FOX drew a 14.9 in 2011.
Sunday’s singleheader was just the seventh NFL telecast this season to post an increase in the metered markets and the fourth to hit a multi-year high.
* A fifth game was broadcast via live stream on Yahoo!, airing on television only in the home markets. As such, traditional Nielsen data for that game was not available.
