Game 3 of the 2010 Stanley Cup Final was the highest rated NHL game on cable since 2002.
The Flyers’ overtime win over the Blackhawks drew a 2.0 U.S. rating and 3.6 million viewers on Versus Wednesday night, up 18% in ratings and 20% in viewership from Red Wings/Penguins Game 3 last year (1.7, 3.0 mil), but down 17% and 10%, respectively, from Red Wings/Penguins Game 3 on NBC in ’08 (2.4, 4.0 mil).
The game peaked with 5.1 million viewers from 10:30-45 PM.
Game 3 ranks as the highest rated, most-viewed program in the history of Versus. Additionally, this marks the highest rated, most-viewed Stanley Cup Final game on cable television since 2002.
Despite airing on Versus, Wednesday’s game is tied as the second-highest rated Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Final since 2002 — topping several games that aired on either ABC or NBC. The game nearly doubled the ratings of Ducks/Senators Game 3 on NBC in 2007 (1.1).
Wednesday’s game drew a 17.7 rating in Philadelphia and a 17.5 in Chicago — down from Game 2, but up from Game 1 in both markets.
