The NFL singleheader scored an increase in overnights on CBS. In other news, NBC tied its lowest Notre Dame overnight of the season, and FOX had a drop in overnights for its college football coverage.
NFL Singleheader Scores Increase on CBS
- The Week 8 NFL singleheader window, featuring Bills/Patriots in 50% of markets, earned a 10.3 overnight rating on CBS Sunday afternoon — up 8% from last year (9.5) but down 16% from coverage on FOX in 2014 (12.3). Of the 12 NFL telecasts to post an increase in the overnights this year, eight have been early windows — the singleheader or the first game of a doubleheader.
NBC Ties Notre Dame Season-Low
- NBC earned a 1.6 overnight for Saturday’s Miami/Notre Dame college football game, down 45% from USC/Notre Dame in primetime last year (2.9) and down 30% from North Carolina/Notre Dame in the afternoon in 2014 (2.3). The 1.6 is tied as the lowest on NBC this season, matching Notre Dame’s home opener against Nevada in September.
Overnights Dip For CFB on FOX
- The West Virginia/Oklahoma State college football game had a 1.4 overnight rating on FOX Saturday afternoon, down 13% from USC/Cal last year (1.6) but up 56% from Texas Tech/TCU in 2014 (0.9), both of which aired in later timeslots. The 1.4 was the lowest of the weekend for college football on broadcast.
