It may have been a good game, but Chiefs/Broncos did little to help NBC’s soft Sunday Night Football ratings.
Chiefs/Broncos earned a 10.7 final rating and 18.4 million viewers on NBC’s Sunday Night Football last weekend, down 27% in ratings and viewership from Patriots/Broncos last year (14.6, 25.2M), down 18% in both measures from Cowboys/Giants in 2014 (13.1, 22.4M), and the lowest rated and least-watched Week 12 edition of SNF since Colts/Chargers in 2008 (9.5, 15.2M).
The Chiefs’ overtime win was the 12th of NBC’s 14 NFL telecasts this season to hit a multi-year low in ratings and/or viewership — and the 10th to hit lows in both measures.
It was also the ninth game on NBC with less than an 11.0 rating and the eighth with fewer than 19 million viewers — compared to one such game all of last season.
In adults 18-49, Sunday’s 6.2 rating fell 27% from last year (8.5) and down 23% from 2014 (8.1).
