For the fifth consecutive year, overnight ratings dropped for the final round of the U.S. Women’s Open.
Final round coverage of the U.S. Women’s Open drew a 1.1 overnight rating on NBC Sunday, down 15% from last year (1.3), down 31% from 2008 (1.6) and down 42% from 2007 (1.9).
The 1.1 overnight is the lowest for final round coverage of the event since at least 1996.
As recently as 2006, final round coverage of the event drew a comparatively massive 3.1 overnight. 2006 was the second of back-to-back years when final round coverage drew at least a 3.0 overnight.
Third round coverage on Saturday drew a 0.7 overnight, down 36% from last year (1.1), down 50% from 2008 (1.4) and down 42% from 2007 (1.2).
Coverage on both days was outdrawn by the PGA John Deere Classic on CBS.
