As was the case for the game itself, Super Bowl pregame coverage could not measure up to last year.
The Super Bowl pregame show had a 10.1 rating and 20.7 million viewers on FOX Sunday, per Nielsen fast-nationals — down 10% in ratings and 7% in viewership from the same time period on CBS last year (11.2, 22.2M*). Comparable figures for NBC in 2015 were not available. Compared to the last Super Bowl pregame on FOX, in 2014, ratings fell 16% from a 12.0 and viewership 10% from 23.1 million.
Fox NFL Kickoff led into the pregame show with 4.1 million viewers, down 19% from Phil Simms’ All-Iron Team on CBS last year (5.1M). Though down from last year, it did top the comparable window on FOX in 2014, Football America: Our Stories (4.0M).
Earlier in the afternoon, a special edition of the Fox Sports 1 show “Undisputed” had 2.4 million viewers — down 41% from Road to the Super Bowl in the same window last year (4.1M). It also declined 11% from the same Road to the Super Bowl show on FOX in 2014 (2.7M).
