Like Tiger Woods, The Barclays put in a respectable performance over the weekend — but could not measure up to last year.
Final round coverage of The Barclays, the first leg of the FedEx Cup, drew a 2.5 overnight rating on CBS Sunday — down 32% from last year (3.7), up 39% from 2008 (1.8) and up 19% from 2007 (2.1).
Woods finished in a tie for 12th this year, after a second-place finish last year. He did not play in 2008 or 2007.
The 2.5 overnight is the second-highest for final round coverage of The Barclays since 2004. Additionally, this marks the largest overnight rating for any non-major golf telecast since the final round of The Memorial in June (3.2).
Saturday’s third round action drew a 2.0 overnight, down 9% from last year (2.2), up 82% from 2008 (1.1) and up 18% from 2007 (1.7).
