Facing competition from college football, FOX tied its lowest rating of the season for Major League Baseball coverage.
Regional MLB action featuring Reds/Cardinals drew a 1.2 final rating on FOX Saturday, tying a season low set just one week earlier. The telecast drew 1.874 million viewers, the second-smallest audience of the season.
Saturday’s telecast was outdrawn head-to-head by college football action on ABC (2.7, 4.224 mil), NBC (2.2, 3.289 mil) and ESPN (1.5, 2.332 mil).
The 1.2 for Saturday’s telecast marks an 8% decline from Red Sox/White Sox last year (1.3), but is even with the comparable telecast in ’08 (1.2).
So far this season, 15 of the 22 MLB telecasts on FOX have drawn less than a 2.0 rating, with eight of those telecasts drawing a 1.5 or lower.
