ABC did as poorly in the ratings on Saturday afternoon as Florida State did on the field.
Regional college football action featuring Florida State/Oklahoma drew a mere 2.1 overnight on ABC Saturday afternoon, down a whopping 63% from Notre Dame/Michigan last year (5.6), down 28% from regional action in 2008 (2.9) and down 50% from Oregon/Michigan in 2007 (5.0).
The 2.1 overnight is the lowest for any college football telecast on ABC since Nebraska/Colorado on the day after Thanksgiving last year (1.9), and the lowest for any Saturday telecast over at least the past three seasons (dating back to 2007).
Saturday’s telecast was pummeled head-to-head by Michigan/Notre Dame on NBC (4.5). Overnights for ESPN’s Miami/Ohio State telecast were not immediately available.
So far this season, all three college football telecasts on ABC have failed to draw even a 3.0 overnight.
