Recent sports media news, including NBC tape delaying Ryder Cup coverage, FOX adding cable-cams to its MLB postseason coverage, and the launch of a new web series on SI.com.
- NBC will tape delay all ten hours of its Ryder Cup coverage on Saturday. Sunday’s six hours of coverage on NBC will air live, as will Friday’s coverage on ESPN. (USA Today)
- FOX plans to use cable-cams for its coverage of the 2010 National League Championship Series and World Series, reports USA Today. The cameras, which “can roam over the field at altitudes ranging from about 12 to 80 feet above ground,” will be able to provide overhead shots of, among other things, “close plays” at bases and “managers talking to their pitchers on the mound.” (USA Today)
- Sports Illustrated and Turner Sports have partnered to create a new online video series for SI.com. Behind The Mic, which will debut this Friday, will feature sports broadcasters giving “insights and opinions on topics” related to their particular sport. Friday’s edition features NBC NFL analyst Cris Collinsworth and TBS MLB analyst Cal Ripken, among others. (Turner Sports)
