Making their first playoff appearances in several years, the Braves and Giants attracted the largest non-Yankee audience of the postseason.
The Giants’ Game 1 win over the Braves drew a 3.1 U.S. rating and 4.888 million viewers on TBS Thursday night, up a tick in ratings and 10% in viewership from last year (BOS/LAA G1: 3.0, 4.437 mil), and up 19% and 22%, respectively, from 2008 (LAD/CHC G2: 2.6, 4.024 mil).
Braves/Giants drew the highest rating of postseason for a game that did not involve the Yankees, topping Game 1 of Reds/Phillies and Games 1 and 2 of Rangers/Rays.
Additionally, Braves/Giants is only the second game of the postseason to have an increase from last year’s comparable window — the other being Wednesday’s Yankees/Twins Game 1.
Thursday’s game drew a 17.5 rating in the Bay Area and a 10.3 in Atlanta.
