PGA Tour ratings continue to fall.
Final round coverage of the PGA Tour Texas Open earned a 1.3 final rating and 2.0 million viewers on CBS, down 13% in ratings and 10% in viewership from last year (1.5, 2.2M) and down 7% and flat, respectively, versus 2015 (1.4, 2.0M).
The 1.3 rating is the lowest for final round coverage of the tournament since 2011 (1.2).
Ratings and viewership have now declined for twelve straight final round PGA windows on broadcast TV, a streak that dates back to Super Bowl Sunday. Nine of those 12 telecasts have hit a multi-year low in one or both measures.
Third round action last Saturday also declined, dropping 10% in ratings (from 1.05 to 0.95) and in viewership (from 1.5M to 1.4M). Including third round telecasts, a whopping 19 straight PGA windows on broadcast have declined.
Lead-in coverage on Golf Channel had a 0.3 (-17%) and 385,000 (-23%) on Saturday and a 0.4 (flat) and 560,000 on Sunday (+4%).
