CBS continues to overhaul its NFL studio team. In other news, ESPN has announced yet more contract extensions, perhaps in the hopes that one will not notice yet more layoffs.
Burleson Replacing Scott on NFL Today
- Former NFL WR and NFL Network Good Morning Football co-host Nate Burleson has joined CBS Sports as an analyst for The NFL Today, it was announced Monday. He replaces Bart Scott, who spent just two years on CBS. Burleson, who will continue in his current roles on NFL Network, joins host James Brown and fellow analysts Bill Cowher, Boomer Esiason and Phil Simms. He will also contribute to the CBS Sports Network show That Other Pregame Show. (NFL.com 5.8, CBS PR 5.8)
More ESPN Extensions
- ESPN announced contract extensions Monday with SEC Network football analyst Tim Tebow, MLB analyst Eduardo Perez and pundit Will Cain, joining an expanding list of renewals the company has announced in recent days. The recent spate of extensions comes in the midst of ESPN’s massive layoffs of talent, several of whom had been with the network for more than a decade. (ESPN PR 5.8a, 5.8b, 5.8c)
More ESPN Layoffs
- ESPN has laid off NFL analyst Jerome Bettis, bringing an end to his nearly four-year tenure with the outlet. Sporting News reported the news on Sunday, and Bettis indicated the same via Twitter on Monday. Prior to joining ESPN, Bettis worked in NBC’s NFL studio.
