Ratings and viewership for the Phillies/Giants NLCS on FOX continue to trail last year’s Yankee-fueled ALCS on the network.
The Giants’ Game 4 win over the Phillies drew a 5.7 final rating and 9.274 million viewers on FOX Wednesday night, down 15% in ratings and 10% in viewership from Game 4 of last year’s ALCS on FOX (NYY/LAA: 6.7, 10.303 mil), but up 14% and 20%, respectively, from Game 4 of the 2008 NLCS on FOX (PHI/LAD: 5.0, 7.705 mil).
Game 4 of last year’s Dodgers/Phillies NLCS on TBS drew a 3.4 rating and 5.644 million viewers.
Wednesday’s game drew the second-largest audience of the 2010 MLB Postseason, trailing only Rangers/Yankees Game 4 one night earlier (9.846 mil). Keep in mind this does not include Tuesday’s Phillies/Giants Game 3 (ratings and viewership are unavailable for that game).
Phillies/Giants finished behind some of Wednesday night’s broadcast television fare — trailing Survivor (7.0, 12.256 mil, CBS), Criminal Minds (8.8, 14.459 mil, CBS), The Defenders (6.3, 10.029 mil, CBS), and Modern Family (7.1, 11.972 mil, ABC) in both ratings and viewership.
In the key adults 18-49 demographic, the game drew a 2.9 rating — down 15% from last year’s ALCS Game 4 (3.4) and up 16% from the 2008 NLCS Game 4 (2.5). The game finished behind Survivor (3.6) , Criminal Minds (3.7), Modern Family (4.7) and Cougartown (3.1) in the demo.
It may not have been the top draw of the night, but Wednesday’s game helped FOX to a second-place finish for the night on broadcast in both viewership and the adults 18-49 demographic.
As mentioned earlier, ratings and viewership were not immediately available for Tuesday afternoon’s Phillies/Giants Game 3.
