The UEFA Champions League final was a mixed bag on FOX and Fox Deportes.
Saturday’s Real Madrid-Juventus UEFA Champions League final earned a 1.0 final rating and 1.8 million viewers on FOX, flat in ratings and up 5% in viewership from Real Madrid-Atletico Madrid last year (1.0, 1.7M) but down 23% and 20% respectively from Barcelona-Juventus in 2015 (1.3, 2.2M).
Real Madrid’s blowout win ranks fifth out of the eight Champions League finals on FOX, ahead of only last year, Inter Milan-Bayern Munich in 2010 (1.6M) and Bayern Munich-Dortmund in 2015 (1.4M).
Spanish-language coverage on Fox Deportes had 1.24 million viewers, down 8% from last year on ESPN Deportes (1.3M) and down 15% from coverage on Fox Deportes in 2015 (1.5M). It was the least-watched final on Spanish-language TV in three years, since Real Madrid-Atletico Madrid pulled 1.22 million.
The combined audience of three million viewers is about on par with last year but down 18% from 2015 (3.65M).
In adults 18-49, FOX and Fox Deportes combined for a 1.3 rating — the weekend’s highest rated program on all of television outside of the NBA Finals. It topped Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Final (1.0), AMC’s Fear the Walking Dead (1.2), and the debut of a newsmagazine show on NBC (0.8).
