The Cowboys on-field slump is beginning to affect the television ratings.
CBS earned a 9.5 overnight rating for Sunday’s NFL singleheader window, featuring Jaguars/Cowboys as the primary game, down 5% from Week 8 last year (MIA/NYJ*: 10.0), but up 9% from Week 8 two years ago (SD/NO*: 8.7).
The 9.5 overnight for Sunday’s telecast is the lowest of the season for the NFL singleheader window. The previous low was a 10.6, set in Week 1.
For some perspective, the Cowboys played in the featured game of two previous singleheader windows this season, with the telecasts drawing substantially higher overnights of 12.3 (Week 2 vs. CHI) and 14.0 (Week 3 at HOU).
The Cowboys were blown out in Sunday’s game, falling to 1-6 on the season.
Also of note, Sunday’s telecast included Broncos/49ers from London, England, the third straight year that CBS has aired the NFL’s annual London game.
In 2009, the network’s Week 7 singleheader window featured Patriots/Buccaneers from London, drawing a 7.5 overnight. In ’08, the net’s Week 8 singleheader featured Chargers/Saints from London, earning an 8.7.
