For the fifth time this season, CBS attracted over seven million viewers for SEC college football action.
LSU’s win over Alabama last Saturday drew a 4.4 final rating and 7.208 million viewers, up 3% in ratings and 7% in viewership from the same matchup on the comparable week last year (LSU/ALA: 4.3, 6.735 mil).
Saturday’s game marked Alabama coach Nick Saban‘s second return to LSU since leaving the Tigers after the 2004-05 season. His first return in 2008 earned a 5.1 and 8.137 million.
Alabama/LSU is the fifth college football game on CBS this season to draw at least seven million viewers. By comparison, the network topped seven million just four times all of last season, including the SEC Championship Game.
Through Saturday, CBS is averaging a 4.0 rating for college football coverage, even with last year.
