Despite a two-night delay that pushed it from the most-viewed night of the week, Tuesday’s Vikings/Eagles game still scored strong numbers for NBC.
The Vikings’ upset victory earned a 15.2 overnight rating on NBC Tuesday night, up 31% from Week 16 last year (DAL/WSH: 11.6), and up 18% from Week 16 in 2008 (CAR/NYG: 12.9).
The telecast drew NBC’s highest Week 16 rating since resuming NFL coverage in 2006. Keep in mind previous Week 16 games aired on Sunday nights.
The 15.2 overnight is tied as the sixth-highest of the season for Sunday Night Football (17 telecasts), matching Packers/Patriots one week earlier.
Despite the strong numbers, Tuesday’s telecast not only drew a lower overnight than the Week 15 national window on FOX (NYG/GB*: 15.6), but the singleheader window on CBS as well (NYJ/CHI*: 15.4).
Minneapolis (38.4) was the top market for Tuesday’s game, followed by Philadelphia (36.3). The top neutral market was New Orleans (29.1), with Norfolk, VA (22.9) and Richmond, VA (21.8) rounding out the top five.
Tuesday’s game was originally supposed to air on Sunday night, but was postponed due to inclement weather.
