The union of Comcast and NBC has resulted in several Versus executives losing their jobs, including now-former Versus president Jamie Davis.
Sports Business Daily reported Wednesday that three Versus executives — NHL coordinating producer Mike Baker, Senior Vice President and Executive Producer Leon Schweir and Vice President of Digital Media Neal Scarborough — have each been informed that they will be relieved of their duties.
Baker and Schweir’s duties will be handled by NBC’s Sam Flood and Jon Miller.
The report came the same day that NBC officially announced a slew of executive changes.
Versus president Jamie Davis has officially been replaced by Comcast Sports Group President Jon Litner. Litner was the only incumbent Comcast executive promoted in Wednesday’s announcement.
Meanwhile, the aforementioned Flood and Miller also added new Versus responsibilities. Flood, already the executive producer of NBC Sports, will now be the exec. producer of NBC Sports and Versus. Miller, meanwhile, shifts from the EVP of NBC Sports to the president of programming for both NBC Sports and Versus.
In other moves, NBC executive Mike McCarley has officially been named president of The Golf Channel, while former Turner exec Mark Lazarus has been named president of NBC Sports Cable Group.
As mentioned Tuesday, NBC Sports has essentially taken over the sports operations in the Comcast/NBC partnership. According to Sports Business Daily, “it appears that all of the layoffs from the combined company have come from Versus execs,” while none “have come from NBC Sports, to date.”
