CBS SEC ratings dropped once again last weekend, with the Georgia-Florida rivalry hitting at least an 18-year low.
Last Saturday’s Georgia-Florida college football game delivered a 2.0 rating and 3.4 million viewers on CBS, down 23% in ratings and 24% in viewership from last year (2.6, 4.5M) and down 35% and 33% respectively from 2015 (3.1, 5.0M), both of which featured the same matchup.
The Bulldogs’ win ranks as the lowest rated game between the rivals since at least 1999. Ratings have now declined for four straight years, falling nearly 50% over that span.
This year’s game faced tough competition from Penn State-Ohio State on FOX, which was the most-watched afternoon game of the season (9.9M).
Georgia-Florida continued a season-long trend of declines for the SEC on CBS. All eight telecasts have posted declines in ratings and viewership, five by double-digits. All-but-one telecast has failed to crack a 3.0 rating or five million viewers.
