With hefty competition from one of the more hyped games of the NBA season, Sunday’s Bruins/Red Wings game slipped to a season-low on NBC.
The Red Wings’ win over the Bruins earned a 0.9 overnight rating on NBC Sunday afternoon, the network’s lowest NHL overnight of the season.
There was no comparable game last year, due to the Winter Olympics.
NHL overnights have been on a downward trend on NBC this season, dropping from a 2.8 for the Winter Classic, to a 1.1 for Flyers/Blackhawks, to a 1.0 for Penguins/Capitals, to Sunday’s 0.9.
Sunday’s game aired directly opposite the Heat/Celtics NBA game on ABC, which drew a 3.9 overnight.
